Meet acclaimed cellist John-Henry Crawford

BY EDWARD CRAWFORD, RESIDENT

This holiday season I want reflect on a meaningful evening at the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum where my brother, John-Henry Crawford showcased his musical prowess on our grandfather’s cherished 200-year-old cello. Hosted by Mary Pat Higgins, the event honored the memory of grandfather Robert Popper, immortalizing his legacy within the museum’s walls.

John-Henry’s emotive. performance resonated deeply, weaving melodies like the “Theme from Schindler’s List,” “Popper Requiem,” and the beloved “Edelweiss,” a tribute to grandfather’s favorite song. A heartwarming moment unfolded as the crowd, united, raised their voices to “God Bless America,” a gesture of gratitude and remembrance for Holocaust survivors and all those who found refuge in our nation after enduring unspeakable atrocities.
